How to add a "What's New" button to your Framer site

A "What's New" button lets visitors and customers see your latest updates without leaving the page. This guide shows how to add one to a Framer site in a few minutes using a free component.

What you need

A Framer project, and a free ReleaseBadge account. ReleaseBadge stores your updates and the Framer component displays them.

Steps

  1. Create a free account at releasebadge.com and add your first update. Set its status to Published.
  2. Copy your Project Key from the dashboard.
  3. Open the What's New Changelog component in the Framer Marketplace and add it to your project.
  4. Drag the component onto your page, for example into your navigation bar or footer.
  5. Select the component and paste your Project Key into the "Project Key" property.
  6. Publish your Framer site, then add the site address (for example yoursite.framer.website) under Authorized Domains in your ReleaseBadge dashboard.
  7. Open your published site and click the button to check your updates appear.

Why you need to authorize your domain

The widget only loads on domains you authorize. This stops other sites from using your Project Key. Add every address you publish to, including a custom domain once you connect one.

Adding or editing updates later

Write new updates in your dashboard. They appear in the widget the next time someone loads your page. You do not need to republish your Framer site.
