Changelog widget or changelog page: which should your site have?
Many product sites ask whether to build a dedicated changelog page or add a popup widget. They solve different problems, and you can use both.
A changelog page is best for history
A full page is easy to link to, easy to search and good for people who want to read everything you have shipped. It takes more effort to build and keep in your site structure.
A changelog widget is best for in-context news
A button with a popup shows recent updates right where the visitor already is, with no extra page to visit. It suits small and frequent updates, and it is quick to set up.
Using both
Keep a simple widget for what is new, and link to a fuller page for the history if you need one. A free widget such as the What's New Changelog component for Framer is a quick way to start with the first.
